Frequently Asked Questions

Updatronix, the free version, monitors WordPress updates, centralizes their settings, and schedules them. It’s the foundation: it works on its own and stays free.

Updatronix 3000 adds a Pro layer on top: WordPress/PHP compatibility checks before every automatic update, an update queue, dependency chains between items, protection for version-controlled items, white labeling, CSV/XML/JSON exports, and developer tools (hooks, functions, REST API).

Both versions share the same philosophy: native, lightweight, private.

Yes. Updatronix 3000 builds on the free Updatronix, which remains the foundation and works on its own. The 3000 version adds its features on top, without taking anything away from the free version.

Update Shield checks compatibility with your WordPress and PHP versions before every automatic update. If an update isn’t compatible, it’s cancelled, automatic updates for that item are disabled, and the technical manager is notified by email. Protection also covers version-controlled items (git…) and flags abandoned plugins: you never update blindly.

A stuck update can leave your database in an inconsistent state. The Updatronix 3000 queue chains automatic updates cleanly, one after another, instead of forcing the server to process everything at once. Less memory used, fewer timeouts, fewer disk write errors—and a much better success rate on plugin-heavy sites.

Updatronix Flow creates dependency chains between items. For example: update your payment gateways before updating WooCommerce or your theme after specific page builder plugins. Updates follow your site’s logic, avoiding the temporary incompatibilities that occur when dependent components update out of order.

Yes. Updatronix Dev Tools provides hooks, functions, and a REST API to integrate Updatronix into your own automation chain. Send events to your dashboards, trigger backups, automate your maintenance reports—all by code, with no manual work.

Yes. White labeling lets you rebrand Updatronix with your own colors and identity. Ideal for agencies and freelancers who want to offer a consistent experience to their clients: Updatronix branding disappears from the admin interface, while update management stays at a professional level.

No. One license = one site, lifetime updates, basic support on the WordPress.org forum. Nothing to renew. The price increases with each feature release, but only for new buyers: a license purchased today locks in its price and receives all future updates. That’s also what funds the plugin’s development.

Philosophy

Open Source & Freedom

Updatronix’s code is open, readable, editable, distributable by everyone under the GPL V2 license.

Native

Native components, native operation: the plugin relies on the WordPress update engine without replacing it.

Private

Data does not leave your site. No statistics, no telemetry, and no calls to a third-party server.

Tested

Quality verified according to Opquast and ISTQB standards and methodologies.

Compliant

Complies with WordPress Coding Standards (PHP, CSS, JS), PHPStan, ESLint, Stylelint, and Plugin Checker.

Accessible

Each feature is described and explained so that everyone can find their way around.

Robust

The Updatronix plugin is designed to remain reliable over time and keep up with the evolution of the WordPress CMS.

Lightweight

Lean by design. Adds only the necessary features, nothing superfluous, and no modules that bloat the site for no reason.
